Thomas was born May 22, 1939, to Frankie Smith and Thomas McFarland in Houston Texas. He served in the United States Army and belongs to the American Legion Post #49 in Utica. Tom and Myrna Silano were married April 18, 1963. They raised three children together, Patsy (Jerry) Stanton, Tommy McFarland and Lynn (Rick) Dubray. Tom worked in food service and food service management most of his life. Tom enjoyed sports of all kind, working on cars, NASCAR, reading mysteries, but most of all, he loved singing and playing his guitar. He liked country music and his favorite singer was Merle Haggard.

Later on in life, Tom drove a semi and enjoyed driving a tour bus for Arrow Stage Lines. He quit driving over the road when he drove the shuttle transporting employees between the two Bryan Hospitals in Lincoln.

He met Linda Corum and they were married June 19, 2009. Through this marriage, he added a daughter and son to his family – Melisssa (Butch) Nadrchal and Ron Corum Jr.. With the combined families, there were 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Of course, we cannot forget his pug The Reginald who waited nightly for his treats and ear scratches from Tom. Other important people in his life were special friends, Earl and Myrna Bayless, Gary and Mary Boyer and Randy Kramer and Pete Wooley.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and Ron Corum, Jr.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Bryan Hospital West for the excellent care and kindness they showed for Thomas and his family and friends.
