Bruce Walter Brugger, former bus driver for Crete Public Schools, left this earthly life Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 84 years of age. 

The son of Supt. Walter and Edith (Bruce) Brugger, of South Dakota, he was born March 9, 1940. He became the oldest living brother to his sisters, Georgene (Gene) Eggebraaten of Crete, and Donna (Stephen) Pucket of North Platte, and brother, Wayne (Judy) Brugger of Val Rico, Florida.

He graduated from Rutland High School, and the University of South Dakota. He taught English and  drama and coached in South Dakota and Colorado schools.

Bruce fell in love with Europe in 1967 and married a beautiful Dutch girl. He owned a bed and breakfast, taught school, worked at airports, and attended school to become a horticulturist. He was an excellent folk dancer and immersed himself in the customs and languages of England, Holland and Germany.

He returned to the states in the 1990s, eventually moving to Crete, after the death of his father. 

Bruce is survived by his three siblings and their spouses; fourteen nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews, cousins and busloads of beautiful school children he loved.

The funeral service was April 18. Arrangements by Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete.
