Thomas More Smith was born in Portland, Oregon, on July 4, 1941, to John and Margaret (Hatala) Smith and passed on Oct. 15, 2026, at the age of 85.
On Jan. 18, 1988, he met his life-long partner, Diane F. Kemper in Gig Harbor, Washington, and moved to Milford in October 2019. Tom and Diane shared a life filled with love, travels and adventure-spending the winters in Manzanillo, Mexico. Tom was the father of Matt (Port Orchard, Washington), Pam (Phoenix) and Michael (Australia) and the step-father to Terri, Michael, Brad, and Karla Kemper. He was the grandfather of Noah, Riley, Poppy, Lily and Victor and great-grandfather to baby Olive Mae
Tom was a respected civil engineer, property developer, and businessman. He will be remembered for his determination, generosity of spirit and lasting contributions to his community and local government in Washington state.
A Celebration of Life service will be Saturday Oct. 24, at the Milford Senior Center at 11 a.m. followed by a noon dinner.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Milford Volunteer Fire Department.
