Marge Timothy was born Dec. 8, 1942, to Frank and Marie (Prochaska) Sand and passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 18, 2023.
Marge graduated from Crete High School in 1960 and worked at Latsch Brothers in Lincoln and Formfit in Crete before becoming a military wife with moves to Alabama and Texas. After moving back to Nebraska, she worked at F&M Oil Company and Quality Cleaners. Marge became a substitute in food service at Crete Public Schools and then moved to full time at the middle school, where she cooked many lunches and was Grandma to many of the kids. Marge (Margie, Grandma, Hop, Curls, Alice, Great Meemaw and Mom) loved to play cards, go to auctions, spend time with her family, was an amazing cook and could fix or make anything made of fabric, She knew so much Crete history and had so many good stories to share.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Marie Sand, brother, Fran Sand; and sister, Kay Foss. Marge is survived by her daughters, Chris Toby and Debb Rexer (Kevin); sister, Nancy Rhynalds (Terry); brothers, Philip Sand (Connie) and Gordon Sand (Vicky); five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Marge’s life will be Saturday, April 29, at the Crete VFW club from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (lunch will be provided). Memorials to the family for future designation. Arrangements by Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Lincoln.
