Lucille Margaret (Jensen) Brown, 92, wife of Robert Ralph Brown, Wilber, died Tuesday, June 8, 2021, in Crete.

She was born March 7, 1929, in Bloomfield, to Emma H. (Ermels) and Henry W. Jensen. Lucille attended rural schools and then high school in Crofton, graduating in 1946. After high school, she worked at Scot’s Dime Store, Gurney’s Seed Company and WNAX Radio Station in Yankton, South Dakota. On April 6, 1947, she was united in marriage to Robert Ralph Brown at Trinity Lutheran Church in Crofton, and four children were born of this union – Gail, Charles, Lyle and Kenneth.

After leaving Crofton, the family lived in Vermillion, South Dakota, and Schuyler before moving to Crete in 1960, where she worked in the office of the family-owned business, Propane Service, for 30 years. She moved to Texas in 1999 returning to Nebraska in 2018.

Lucille belonged to the Extension Club in Crofton and in Crete to the American Legion Auxiliary as a life member and a life member of the VFW 4959, where she was president as well as holding several other offices. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wilber.

Survivors include sons and daughter-in-laws, Charles and Phyllis Brown, DeWitt, Lyle and Diane Brown, Dorchester, and Kenneth and Sarah Brown, Crete; son-in-law, Gary August, Gordon; and grandchildren Alan and Ann August, Julie August, Jeff and Tricia Brown, Jason and Miranda Brown, Gina and Dan Timmerman, Trenton and Jessica Brown and Charlotte and Colin Irons. Other survivors include great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and special niece Katherine Babonis. She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Robert Brown; daughter, Gail August; four sisters; and nephew-in-law, Paul Babonis.

Extended family-only graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 18, at Riverside Cemetery, Crete. Casual attire requested. No visitation. Memorial contributions will go to charities designated by the family. Condolences may be left for the family at www.kunclfh.com.
