Jerry J. “Smiley” Shandera, age 65, of Crete, passed away July 8, 2023, in Crete.
He was born April 4, 1958, in Crete, to Leonard and Elaine (Rahe) Shandera. Most of his time was spent fishing, hunting and gardening. He enjoyed watching sports, parades and treasure hunting, but most of all, spending time with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his son, Jeremy (Tamara) Blankenship; grandchildren, Nicole, Emily, Anthony and Jenna of Templeton, Iowa; brother, Doug Shandera of Friend; sisters, Cheryln (Sam) Sarringar of Crete, Lynnette (Curt) Schliefert of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Renee (Matt) Roesler of Wilber; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was July 14. Arrangements by Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete.
