Eleanor Ruth (Duba) Henning, 83, of Crete went to her heavenly home Sept. 28, 2022. She was born in Western on May 18, 1939, to Henry and Frances (Maas) Duba. She became a child of God through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism on Feb. 15, 1953, at Grace Methodist Church in Crete. She graduated from Crete High School in 1957. Eleanor was confirmed June 1, 1958, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She married the love of her life, Loren, on June 22, 1958, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. They were blessed with three boys, Kevin, Kent and Keith.

Eleanor worked at Fairmont Creamery, then stayed home to raise her family. As the boys got older, she went to work at Crete Elementary School as a secretary for 25 years and retired in 1999. Eleanor loved her church and held several serving positions. Eleanor’s greatest love was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling with Loren, doing crafts, working outside with her flowers and volunteering.

Eleanor is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Loren Henning; sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Liz of Crete, Kent and Lisa of Lincoln, and Keith and Lisa Ann of Lincoln; grandchildren, Keenan and Becky Henning of Lincoln, Kieran Henning and special friend, Lindsey and girls of Crete, Makaela and Derek Johnson of Hickman, Brendon Henning of Lincoln, Drew and BreAnna Henning of Lincoln and Michelle Henning of Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Kamden, Karsyn and Kyndal Henning, Kiptyn and Kaelyn Johnson and Carter Henning; sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Larry Amen; sister, Susan Wiley; sister-in-law, Darleen Dittmer; brother-in-law, Arnold Henning; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Eldon and Carol Henning, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Joe Drevo; brothers, Merlyn Duba and Harvey Duba; sisters-in-law, LeAnn Henning, Gloria, Maxine Duba and Sharon Duba; brother-in-law, Elmer Dittmer; nephew and niece, Tim and Denise Henning; stepbrother, Kenneth Drevo; and stepsister, Betty (Buck) Drevo.

A funeral service was Oct. 6 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Crete, with burial in Riverside Cemetery in Crete. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.kunclfh.com.
