Candyce Eda Ann Jones was born July 25, 1961, in Lincoln, to Gerald and Janett Samples and passed away April 29, 2023, at her home in Swanton.

Candy attended Zion Lutheran Parochial School and Wilber Clatonia Schools and graduated in 1979.  Candy was an athlete during her school years. Candy was an employee of Nestle Purina in Crete for 43 years.  She was involved with Plant Emergency Organization, which she held many positions in the committee, during her employment with Nestle. Candy also was a member of the UFCW Local 239 and she recently attended a union conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. Candy was highly involved in the local communities, including the Swanton Community Club, she was co-leader the Boy Scouts of America in Wilber with Mike Yager for several years and coaching/mentoring the youth softball program for many years. She also assisted with many community action programs in Crete that were affiliated with Nestle.

Candy married Michael Yager in 1980, and together, they had three children, Joshua of Swanton, Yancy of Waynesville Missouri, and Rowdy of McKinney, Texas. Candy and Mike later divorced. Candy was a strong supporter of her children, grandchildren and nieces and nephews, attending multiple softball, baseball, football, soccer and basketball games and was always known for being their loudest cheerleader.

Candy married Tom Jones, Jr., on June 24, 2006, and lived at the “Jones Farm” by Swanton until her death.

She is survived by her children, Josh Yager, Yancy (Mindy) Yager, and Rowdy (Lauren) Yager; grandchildren, Sarah, Stephanie, McKenzie, Cameron, James, Tanner, Abigail, Bryson and Everett; brothers, Gary (Linda) Samples, Ed Samples (Peggy), Jim Samples, Cindy (Alan) Zajicek, Cheryl Bice, Kevin (Nancy) Samples, Jerry (Shirley) Samples, Chris (David) Lane, and Carin Jelinek (Chris Stickler); sister-in-law, Tracy (Les Barton); and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Jones, Jr.; parents, Gerald and Janett; brothers, Bruce, Bob and Gene; sister, Cathy; grandparents; mother- and father- in-laws; and brothers-in-law.

The funeral service will be Saturday, May 13 at 3 p.m. at the Swanton Auditorium.  Family will be present beginning at noon. Feel free to wear casual, festive attire. Arrangements by Kuncl Funeral Home.
