Wayne Junior Plachy, of Lincoln, passed away Nov. 12, 2024, one week after celebrating his 95th birthday. Wayne was born Nov. 5, 1929, in Dorchester, to Lewis and Lola Plachy.
Wayne went to country school in Saline County. He was always a very hard worker with a long career starting on the family farm, then as a truck driver, and finishing his career at Tabitha Nursing Home, including delivering Meals on Wheels to seniors when he was in his 70s. Wayne was a member of the Plains Baptist Church, the Teamsters Union and a member of the American Legion Club. He served in the army during the Korean War between 1950-1952 and was stationed in El Paso, Texas.
He is survived by his daughters, Debi and Susan; sons, Dennis and Lewis; his former wife and dear friend, Kathy Plachy; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; four siblings, Vera, Jeralyn, Harold and Harriet; his former wife, Marilyn; and two children, Mark and Shari.
A funeral service will be Friday, Nov. 22, at 10:30 a.m. at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, with interment at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans. Arrangements by Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home.
