Village of Dorchester Board of Trustees Special Meeting June 12, 2026 A Special Meeting of the Village of Dorchester Board of Trustees was held Friday, June 12, 2026, at the Village office, and was called to order at 5:02 p.m. Chairperson Miller advised those present of the Open Meetings Act. Answering Roll Call were board members Nate Hitchins, Tammie Lang, and Chairperson Roger Miller. Matt Shaw and Nancy Tellez were excused. Also present was Jen Kasl, Clerk-Treasurer; and Dawn Zoubek, Deputy Clerk. (All motions carried are unanimous “for” unless otherwise noted). Advance notice of the meeting was posted at the Dorchester US Post Office, First State Bank, NE and Village Hall. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss a part-time employee for cemetery mowing, contract labor for cleaning services, and to approve the purchase of shirts containing the Village logo for board of trustees members. Discussion was held on hiring a part-time employee to help with mowing the cemetery. Motion by Lang, seconded by Hitchins to hire Deanna Bird part-time to help with mowing at the cemetery and in town as needed. Motion carried (3-0-2). Discussion was held on the contract labor for cleaning. Motion by Hitchins to hire Bella Edinger to deep clean the park bathrooms at her current cleaning wage of $15/hr. and re-evaluate salaries in the fall. Motion failed. Motion by Miller, seconded by Hitchins to hire Bella Edinger to deep clean the park bathrooms and bump up both custodian’s wages to $16/hr. now, since they are contract employees. Motion carried (3-0-2). Discussion held on the purchase of shirts containing the Village logo for board of trustees members. Motion by Miller, seconded by Lang to approve the purchase of the shirts. Motion carried (3-0-2). Motion by Hitchins, seconded by Miller to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried (3-0-2).
