Crete Public Schools - Two Hour Late Start

Due to icy road conditions, today, Tuesday, March 26, will be a two-hour late start for Crete Pubic Schools. There is no Morning Preschool, and buses will run accordingly. Breakfast will not be served.

Blood drive March 29 in Milligan

Blood donors are urgently needed for the blood drive at the American Legion in Milligan on Friday, March 29 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. To schedule an appointment register online at redcrossblood.org or call Mary Uldrich at (402) 629-4455.

Wilber-Clatonia students raising, auctioning hogs

Students of Wilber-Clatonia agriculture teacher Cara Holtorf are getting first-hand experience in the field by raising their own hogs. They are learning about the hogs' nutritional requirements, behaviors and more. One of the hogs will be raffled off at the upcoming FFA Banquet, and the other will be butchered and used to teacher her future meat science classes. Friend Learning Center meeting shares survey results

The March 25 Friend Learning Center meeting was held at the Friend Public School Library. The meeting publicly shared the results of the childcare community survey, which received 159 responses. The survey questions were designed to identify the impact on the Friend area's residents and business. To the question: "Do you feel that there are enough high-quality child care options in our community?" only one person answered yes.

Crete Area Medical Center to host Chamber Egg Hunt March 30

The Crete Area Medical Center will host an Easter Egg-stravagnza on Saturday, March 30 beginning at 1 p.m. The Easter egg hunt is free and open to children ages 1 to 10.

Scam alert presentation to be held March 27 in Wilber

Saline County Aging Services in Wilber is hosting a Scam Alert Presentation on March 27 at 10 a.m. The presentation is by the Attorney General's Office.
According to the IRS, thousands of people have lost millions of dollars and their personal information to tax scams, often through a surge in email, phishing, and malware schemes.
Scammers have become sophisticated at sending messages that look like official documents from the IRS, state agencies, state officials, tax software companies, or your own tax professional. They may copy language, logos, or fonts from the IRS to make it look as legitimate as possible. These scammers are seeking to steal personally identifiable information from your official tax documents.

Relay for Life coming to Saline County April 5

Relay for Life will be held at Doane University on April 5 in the Fuhrer Field House. The event runs from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. and will feature speakers, carnival games and a silent auction. The Saline county fundraising goal is $35,000. Visit www.bit.ly/donaerelay to donate of sign up.

EMF track meet moved back

The Friend Turkey Creek Relays have been postponed to Wednesday, March 27. The meet will still begin at 10 a.m.

WC meet postponed

The Wilber-Clatonia track meet that was scheduled for March 26 has been postponed. A makeup date will be announced later.

WC tennis canceled

Due to inclement weather forecasted for March 26th, the Wilber-Clatonia tennis dual vs. Hastings St. Cecelia has been canceled.
