Robert E. Svancara

Robert Elmer Svancara died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2023, at Omaha University Medical Center after a long illness.

Robert was born July 17, 1947, to Elmer and Rosie (Pracheil) Svancara at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln. He attended District 158 Country School by Hallam, and also Wilber and Crete Public Schools. He graduated from The Wilber High School in 1965 and then attended Milford Technical College, studying Building Construction, from which he graduated in 1967. On July 5, 1969, Bob was united in marriage to Darlene Prokop at the Wilber Methodist Church. They were blessed with 54 years of marriage and three children: Steven, Jenny and Julie. Bob and Darlene lived on a farm by Hallam for 33 years. In 2002, they moved to a farm by Orchard, where they resided for 21 years. Bob enjoyed farming the most. He also loved being outdoors – tilling the ground, planting the crops and watching them grow. He used his carpentry skills in building machine sheds, remodeling the family house and kitchen and other needs that came along. Bob enjoyed fishing, boating, grilling outdoors, picnics and mini trips with his family. His family was important to him and he spent many enjoyable hours with them. He attended many of the kids’ school activities and was a hardworking man.

Bob is survived by his wife, Darlene; children, Steven of Orchard, Jenny Svancara of New York and Julie (Scott) Jefferies of Houston;  two grandsons, brothers-in-law and spouse, Fred Prokop of Dorchester, Norman and Bernice Prokop of Crete; sister-in-law and spouse, Shirley and Kenneth Zoubek of Milligan; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Jessica; grandparents, Matej and Rosie Pracheil and Ferdinand and Emma Svancara; parents-in-law, Charles and Alice Prokop.

A private funeral service is planned. Arrangements by Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber.
