NOTICE OF SECOND PUBLIC HEARING COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on April 15, 2025 in the Crete City Hall, located at 243 E 13th St, Crete, NE the City of Crete will hold a public hearing at or soon after 6:00 PM concerning the existing Department of Economic Development (DED) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) project awarded to the City. The City of Crete was awarded $445,000 in CDBG funds in 2020 where they implemented a commercial rehabilitation and façade improvement project to aid in the elimination of slum and blight conditions within the area of downtown redesignated by the City of Crete in December 2013 and identified in the City’s 2016 Downtown Revitalization Plan. Funds were used to eliminate slum and blight conditions on an area-wide basis (SBA), through commercial rehabilitation of privately-owned properties, including activities such as façade improvements, and repairs necessary for correction of code violations. 16 businesses were assisted. $352,017.75 was used for Commercial Rehabilitation; $35,000 for General Administration, and $9,717.57 for Construction management. All remaining funds will be de-obligated. No persons, businesses, or farms were displaced as a result of these activities. All interested parties are invited to attend this public hearing at which time you will have an opportunity to be heard regarding the grant application.
