NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON AN APPLICATION FOR THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Tuesday, August 18th, 2026, at or soon after 6:00 p.m. in the Crete City Hall, the City of Crete will hold a public hearing concerning an application to the Nebraska Department of Economic Development for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). This grant is available to local governments for community/economic development activities. The City of Crete is requesting $630,000 for a Public Works - Infrastructure Grant to reconstruct 15th Street and construct sidewalk improvements from Boswell Avenue to Fir Avenue. The project will pave 15th Street to a 32-foot width with new concrete pavement and install a new five-foot-wide concrete sidewalk along the corridor, together with related driveway replacement, ADA-compliant detectable warning panels, subgrade and drainage preparation, utility adjustments, and site restoration. The need for this project was identified in the City's One- and Six-Year Street Improvement Plan. The total estimated project cost is $1,177,614, with total CDBG funding in the amount of $630,000; the City of Crete will provide the remaining $547,614.00 from Bond resources. CDBG funded activities will include $600,000 for Street and Sidewalk Improvements, $25,000 for General Administration, and $5,000 for Construction Management. The project activities include: Project Activities 03K/03L —Street & Sidewalk Improvements — $600,000 CDBG + $10,000 Match Project Activity 21A — General Administration – $25,000 CDBG Project Activity 03K/03L — Construction Management - $5,000 CDBG All funds will be utilized for the National Objective of LMI to benefit low- and moderate-income people. There will be no persons displaced as a result of CDBG activities. All interested parties are invited to attend this public hearing at which time you will have an opportunity to be heard regarding the grant application. Written and oral testimony will also be accepted at the public hearing scheduled for 6:00 PM, Tuesday, August 18th, 2026, in the Crete City Hall at 243 East 13th Street, Crete, NE 68333.
