Cinco de Mayo celebration draws crowd

The third annual Crete Chamber of Commerce Cinco de Mayo celebration drew hundreds of people to the City Park. The day was celebrated with traditional folk dances, music, piñatas, balloon animals and bounce houses. Many local food vendors lined 12th Street and sold up until the 6 p.m. cut off time.

Friend Rescue ambulance gets major upgrade

By way of a federal grant, the Friend Rescue ambulance is now equipped with a telemedicine technology called Avel eCare. The services gives patients a higher level of care, assists EMTS on the scene and helps reduce the healthcare disparities that exist in rural areas. Cardinals qualify for state with win

The Crete boys' soccer team made it to a district final and defeated Omaha Roncalli Catholic 3-1 on May 4 to secure a spot in the state tournament. Crete is the seventh seed and will face off against Omaha Skutt Catholic on Thursday, May 9, starting at noon.

PETRACEK, Terry David

Terry David Petracek, 72 of Crete, NE passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and his Crete Volunteer Fire Department family on May 1, 2024 after a brave and courageous battle with lung cancer. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at College Heights Country Club, 1225 East 4th Street in Crete.
