Spanish childcare academy series begins April 6

A Spanish childcare academy will be in Crete on Saturdays, April 6 to 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The classes will be at Public Health Solutions located at 830 East First St.

The program will share the necessary requirements to obtain a childcare license. This academy provides Safe with You training, information on how to start a childcare business and First Aid and CPR/AED training / certification. For assistance registering call (402) 870-2749.

Farmers Union Co-op annual meeting to be held March 26

The annual meeting of the Farmers Union Cooperative Company of Friend will be Tuesday, March 26 at the Friend Country Club. A free meal will be served starting at 5 p.m. The business meeting will begin at 7 p.m. and all stockholders are urged to attend.

P.E.O. meeting March 25 in Friend

The next regular meeting of the P.E.O, Chapter DQ will be Monday, March 25 at the Friend Catholic Church beginning at 7 p.m.

Dorchester teacher earns statewide praise

Beloved Dorchester teacher Karma Ridpath was honored with the NRCSA Outstanding Elementary Teacher of the Year Award at this year's NRCSA Conference in Kearney. Cardinals brave conditions, place well at Fairbury

The Crete track and field team braved the cold conditions on March 23 in Fairbury and placed third for the boys and fourth for the girls. Lesli Kratochvil was the lone event champion, winning the long jump at 16-2.5

Cardinals stay perfect on season, shutout LNW

The Crete boys' soccer team still hasn't allowed a goal this season as the Cardinals took down Lincoln Northwest 6-0 on March 21. Diego Espinoza Mendez led the Cardinals with two goals.

WC kicks off tennis season at GICC

The Wilber-Clatonia girls' tennis team kicked off its season at the Grand Island Central Catholic Invite on March 21 and didn't see the results it wanted, going 0-6 in doubles and singles.

Girls' lose first of season

The Crete girls' soccer team couldn't hang on to its two game winning streak when it faced off against Lincoln Northwest on March 21. The Cardinals lost to the Falcons 2-0.

CM baseball drops Friday game

The Crete-Milford baseball team fell short to Omaha Westview 8-3 March 22 in the first game of a scheduled tournament. Nick Wendt collected a pair of singles for CM's only hits of the game. Carson Kotil walked twice. Saturday's games were not played because of weather. Crete-Milford is scheduled to host Lincoln High March 26.
