Linda Ann (Jose) Znamenacek, 79, passed away shortly after moving to Prescott Valley, Arizona.

She was born in 1946 at Nebraska City to Everett and Wilma (Schnieder) Jose and spent her childhood on a farm near Weeping Water. At age 13, her family moved to Crete, where she graduated from Crete High School with abundant friendships that would last her lifetime.

On Nov. 20, 1964, she was united in marriage to Karel Znamenacek at the United Methodist Church in Crete and they were married for 61 years. She devoted her life to raising three sons and making a happy home for them in Lincoln. Linda also worked as a florist for Tyrrell’s Flowers and Field’s Floral and was well known for her wedding arrangements that she created for Lincolnites, as well as for friends and family.

Her kind, nurturing spirit went beyond a house full of boys, then grandkids and a multitude of house plants to encompass her flourishing yard, large extended family and a great many friends. Everyone who knew her felt her caring presence, enjoyed her thoughtful sympathetic exchanges and were touched by a quiet unconditional love.

Linda was a member of the Lincoln Junior League, Heritage Club and Welcome Women’s Club. She was an avid reader and loved to play tennis, which she continued to do until three months before her passing. She was adventurous by nature and loved to travel. It started with Girl Scouts and her close friends from high school camping out and traveling to places such as the Grand Tetons in Wyoming.

Over the years, she got to check off many adventures from her impressive bucket list including, flying a biplane, riding in hot air balloons, parasailing, sky-diving and bungee-jumping. She and her husband traveled to the Caribbean, Mexico, Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, spent several winters in Florida and visited most of the 50 states, many of them by travel trailer. However, her favorite things were family gatherings and to have her gang of grandchildren around her.

Linda is survived by her husband, Karel; three sons; Todd and wife Kim of rural Crete, and grandchildren Ivan and Kelby; Steve and wife Kate of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and grandchildren, Lukas, Max and Hailey; Brad and wife Jill of Crested Butte, Colorado, and grandchildren, Lucy, Schuyler, McKenzie and Eli. Also, her brother, Ron Jose, and sister-in-law, Linda of Lampasas, Texas; sister, Marcia, and brother-in-law, Randy Williamson of Fort Collins, Colorado; and sister, Janet Bolt of Cypress, Texas; and nephews and nieces, Jim Jose, Keith Jose, Patrick Jose, Nikki Harvey, Doug Williamson, Emily Bolt and Laura Frey and their families.

A family graveside service is planned Saturday, May 2, at 9:30 a.m. at the Big Blue Cemetery near Wilber. Following will be a Celebration of Life and luncheon at Glacial Till Vineyard, 344 S. 2nd Rd, Palmyra, from noon to 3 pm.

Memorial contributions are suggested to The Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
