Lila M Witt of Lincoln, formerly of Wilber, passed away at her home Dec. 12, 2022.
She was born Feb. 10, 1933, to Carl and Alvina (Theye) Hinz in rural Jefferson County. She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1950 and married Walter L. Henning of Wilber in Novembe 1950. To this union, a son, Walter D., was born in March 1953 and a daughter, Lana, was born in February 1954. She began working as a clerk in the Saline County Treasurer's office in 1963, working her way up to deputy treasurer for five years, then being appointed county treasurer in 1980, serving four and one-half terms until retiring in 1999. Lila moved to Lincoln in 2002 to spend her retirement years close to her family. She was a member of the Sheridan Lutheran Church.
Survivors: son, Walter Henning of Crete; daughter, Lana Culver of Round Rock, Texas; grandchildren, Jessica (Christian) Ross and Garrett Culver; great-grandchildren, Raley Ross and Cassius Culver; sisters, Darlene Aden, Marilyn Stewart and Judy Hinz; and her special angel, Lynn Hinz. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Leona.
A private family graveside service was conducted at Wyuka Cemetery on Dec. 19. Memorial contributions are suggested to the family for further designation. Arrangements by Wyuka Funeral Home.
