Joseph M. DiNapoli, of Crete, died Oct. 23, 2022, at the age of 96.

Formerly of White Plains, New York, Joe moved to Crete in 1999. Joe joined the Navy at age 17 and served as an aviation airman and aerial gunner in the Pacific arena during WWII. He also served as a communication specialist in the Air Force during the Korean War. A very popular mailman, Joe was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, Branch 693, Peekskill, New York, for more than 70 years.

Joe was an avid golfer and was a member of the College Heights Country Club. His other favorite pasttimes included bowling, his family and enjoying his wife’s delicious homemade Italian meals. Joe was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Crete.

Joe was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ida. He is survived by his four children, Linda DiNapoli of Staten Island, New York, Adrienne Hunter (John) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Joseph L. DiNapoli (Margaret) of Lincoln, and Bernard DiNapoli (Kim) of Crete. He had 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, including special niece, Linda Johnson (Roger) of Crete.

The funeral service was Oct. 28 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Crete. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to The Legacy in Lincoln. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.kunclfh.com.
