Dianne Eunice (Reetz) Kouba was born Oct. 15, 1948, in Seward, to Louis and Rose (Pohl) Reetz and passed away Aug. 7, 2025, in Crete.

She was baptized in Staplehurst at Zion Lutheran Church and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kramer. At St. John’s, she attended a one-room schoolhouse, later finishing her education at Crete Public Schools, graduating in 1966.

After graduation, she met Dale Kouba and was married Sept. 7, 1968. To this union, two daughters, Jill and Joy were born.

Dianne worked for Sack Lumber Company, had an in-home daycare and spent 32 years in the cafeteria at Crete Public Schools. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Kramer, where she served as Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher and member of Ladies Aid,. She was the leader of a Girl Scout Brownie troop and helped with Crete’s Community Blood Drive for many years.

Dianne loved and cherished her family. She always had a smile on her face. Over the years, she was known for lifting spirits by mailing cards to family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Jill (Dale) Schuerman of Lincoln, and Joy Kouba of Crete; grandson, Ryley (Kierstin) Schuerman; new great-granddaughter, Aurora Schuerman of Lincoln; brothers, Elmer (Shirley) Reetz and Allan (Janice) Reetz; brother-in-law, Jerome Kalkwarf; sisters-in-law, Janice Reetz, Betty Reetz and Jolene Reetz of Crete; and many nieces and nephews.

She is proceeded in death by her parents; husband, Dale; sisters, Gloria Woodruff and Donna Kalkwarf; brothers, Lavern Reetz, Roger Reetz and Gerald Reetz; brother-in-law, Lyle Kouba; and nieces, Lynette June and Michelle Reetz.

Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 14, from 5 – 7 p.m. at Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete. A celebration of Dianne’s life will be at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Kramer, on Friday, Aug. 15, at 10 a.m. Plan to attend lunch following the service, hosted by the Ladies Aid, a group Dianne was always proudly a member of. Interment will follow lunch at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested in care of the family for future designation.
