Crete Cares to distribute boxes Dec. 14

Posted

Crete Cares will distribute Christmas boxes on Saturday, Dec. 14.

Volunteers need to arrive at the bus depot by 8 a.m. The distribution line will open at 9 a.m., following the map at right.

This is a wonderful event that helps give some of the food-insecure individuals in our community a great holiday meal. But it is only one small part of what Crete Cares does all year.

Thus far in 2024, Crete Cares has helped 73 adults and 70 minor dependents with rent assistance, heating and cooling bills and electricity costs. More than $12,500 in aid has been granted through 47 applications, 66% of which having children living in the home.

This assistance makes a huge difference in peoples' lives.

As an example, Crete Cares helped one family with four children move into a new apartment when their previous landlord had delayed lead abatement. This rent deposit money created a new safe environment for this family to flourish.

Crete Cares accepts donations from the community all year long to fund not only our Christmas Boxes but also this life-changing assistance. Donations can be dropped off to any of the Crete Cares churches, mailed to First Congregational, UCC, or given directly to Pinnacle Bank.

Crete Cares is a non-profit, volunteer run organization; 100% of donations go to aid for the community.
