Arlen Raye Skinner passed away suddenly at his home July 25, 2023, at 80 years old.

He was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, on Nov. 16, 1942. Arlen greatly enjoyed fishing, going to auctions, gardening and many other hobbies. He started his automotive career at Sherman VW in Decatur, Illinois. He married Linda Hurley in 1965 and they had four children. In 1976, he married Shirley Marshall, who had two sons. In 1985, they moved to Crete, which became their forever home. He worked for Skala’s OK Tire until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Leota Skinner; sisters, Darlene, Leota and Jacqueline; brothers, Robert and George; sons, Arlen, Jr., and Charles. He is survived by his sister, Anita; daughter, Angie, son, John; stepsons, Jerry and Bob; special friends, Bernice, Randy, Roger and Sandy; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

For all those who knew and loved him, there will be a Celebration of Life at the 4-H Building at Tuxedo Park in Crete on Jan. 7, 2024. Per his wishes, it will be held prior to the Arlen Skinner Estate Auction Arrangements by Kuncl Funeral Home.
