Virginia Claire (Zelenka) Parks Teal, age 94, passed away Nov. 22, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born Feb. 10, 1928, in Crete, to Emil and Clara (Wielage) Zelenka. She graduated from Crete High School in 1946. She held various secretarial jobs and then later attended Southeast Community College for nursing. She worked as an LPN until she retired.
She married Lester Parks on Aug. 13, 1951, and from this union, four children, Michael, David, Lisa and Julie were born. After the passing of her husband in 1979, she later married Morris Teal. She enjoyed playing Bridge and other card games. She loved to cook and bake. She loved to attend all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; son, Micheal Parks; sister, Dorthy Rees; and brothers-in-law, Bill Rees and Lyle Simpson. She is survived by David (Dawn) Parks, Lisa (Tim) Coffey and Julie (Terry) Reetz, all of Crete; grandchildren, Alex (Sean) Haar, Samantha (Nick) Flewelling, Nate (Audrey) Parks, Kellie (Austin) Aksamit, Cory (fiancé, Lexi) Parks, Bryon (Sarah) Coffey, Erin (Matthew) Schepers, Nick (Haley) Coffey, Jerad (Aleece) Reetz, Jennifer Reetz (special friend, Brian) Amanda (Garret) Easley and Nicole (Cale) Gierhan; 25 great-grandchildren; sister, Norma Simpson; and many nieces and nephews.
A private family graveside service was conducted. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, will be donated to the Crete Volunteer Fire Department. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.kunclfh.com.
