Bob passed away peacefully the morning of April 22, 2021, following a nine-month battle with cancer at the age of 68 with his family by his side.

Bob grew up southwest of Dorchester and graduated from Dorchester Public School in 1970. In high school, he was involved in football, basketball, track and many other school activities. He participated in many 4-H activities with his brothers, cousins and friends and he actively contributed to helping his kids and grandkids in showing horses and cattle. After high school, he attended Fairbury College then joined the Army in 1971 and served until 1974. He then went to SCC in Milford and earned an Associate’s Degree in Auto Body Technology. He shared many memories of living in the red brick house on Turkey Creek with his family. His family then moved onto the Slama family farm, where he then resided most of his years. When he took over the family farm, he was also able to purchase the 80 acres where his grandparents lived and his father was born. Throughout the years, Bob enjoyed taking his family to the lake for camping and water skiing. Bob especially liked to see that his kids, nieces, nephews and grandkids all learned to water ski. He also has avidly supported them for many of their sporting events and especially loved watching his grandsons play football. He was a Husker football and Husker volleyball fan. He loved riding Harley Davidson motorcycles as much as possible, including giving his kids and grandkids rides. Most recently, he loved teaching Cody, Lydia and Jordan to ride.
