James C. Slama

James Charles Slama was born Sept. 17, 1947, in Friend, to Clarence and Helen (Svejda) Slama and passed away June 12, 2021, at the Wilber Care Center.

He attended country school District 10 and graduated from Wilber High School in 1966. After high school, Jim worked at Dempster Manufacturing, Alpo and Petersons. Jim and Carol (Wattjes) were married Dec. 4, 1971. In 1975, Jim and Carol moved to a farm northwest of Crete. Jim had his own heavy equipment business and started farming and restoring tractors. Jim enjoyed going to farm sales, listening to polka music, visiting with his friends at Burger King and spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol; niece, Susan Slama Johnson. Jim is survived by his brother and wife, Edward and Darlene Slama of Wilber and their children: J.C. Slama, Jaimie (Slama) Wasik, Cheri Slama, and Christine (Slama) Klaus; brother and wife, Frank and Denise Slama of Dorchester and their children, Charley Slama and Vickie Slama, as well as many great nephews and great nieces.
