Henry "Hank" Douglas Jasinski was born to Henry John and Bernice Theresa (Stec) Jasinksi on Sept. 30, 1939, in Northlake, Illinois. He passed away Thursday, May 6, 2021, at Fairview Manor in Fairmont, at the age of 81 years, 7 months and 6 days.

Hank joined the Air Force as a mechanic in October of 1956. He was stationed in Lincoln where he worked on bombers. While in Lincoln, he met the love of his life, Donna Mae Petersen. They were married Oct. 18, 1958. To them, three children were born, Tammy, Gary and Scott. Hank was honorably discharged from the Air Force in October 1960.

Hank and Donna moved back to Cordova and farmed before purchasing Hank and Donna's Tavern. They ran the bar for 30 years together. Lifelong friendships and special memories came from this adventure. They retired from the bar in August 2002. Hank then enjoyed his time working at Burkey Farms, Inc., and taking care of his little pigs. He took pride in his yard and loved detailing his vehicles in his spare time. Hank also enjoyed going to Taco Tuesdays and camping and fishing, but his biggest hobby of all was following his granddaughters Kelly and Kim all over to watch them play ball. He was known as ‘Grandpa’ to all of their friends. "Grandpa Hank" also loved his time with his great grandkids and always had his candy dish filled when they were coming over to visit.

Hank was very proud of his hometown, Cordova. He loved sitting on his front porch ‘people watching.’ Whether it was the kids in town riding their bikes past or people out for a cruise, he loved the action. If he wasn't outside, he was most likely inside watching ‘Cops!’

Hank was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; parents, Henry and Bernice Jasinski; son, Gary "Jake" Jasinski; and daughter-in-law, Tonja Jasinski. Hank is survived by his daughter, Tammy (Bill) Sladek; son, Scott Jasinski; granddaughters, Kelly (Mitch) Rischling and their children Kash, Kyah, Maelynn, Kimberly (Tanner) Gloystein and their son Parker; and a host of other relatives and friends.

We will see you on the other side of the stars...

A funeral service for Hank was May 10 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cordova. A graveside service was in the Zastrow Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the cemetery or the donor’s choice. Condolences may be left for the family at www.farmerandsonfuneralhome.com.
