Carol Lee Wendelin, 94, of Martell, passed away peacefully at the Wilber Care Center, on Oct. 27, 2022.

Carol was born on July 16, 1928, on her family’s farm in Martell. She and her brother, Daryl, were the only children of Elmer and Helen Bohl.

After Carol graduated from Lincoln High School, she went on to study at the Teachers College at The University of Nebraska. Carol taught at Central School District 147 or better known as the Sprague/Martell Community Center. Carol was very active in her church and community. She was an extremely hard worker and spent most of her days outside working on the family farm. If you couldn’t find her at the family home place, that meant she was either cutting thistles or picking up cans along the county roads.

Carol was preceded in death by husband, Roland; brother, Daryl; daughter-in-law, Diane Wendelin; and grandchildren, Kirk and Brady Wendelin. She is survived by her five sons, Terry (Cindy), Scott (Kelli), Rex, Lonnie and Kirby (Julie); grandchildren, Eric (Heather) Wendelin, Jill (Travis) Coe, Lori (Russell) Siedhoff, Erin Wendelin, Cody (Mikayla) Wendelin, Elizabeth (Andy) Perez, Chris (Nicki) Wendelin, Stephanie (Jason) Elledge, Bradley Wendelin and Mark Franken and 15 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be at the Martell Methodist Church on Friday, Nov. 4, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. The family would like to express their thanks for the wonderful help and care given at the Wilber Care Center. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Martell Methodist Church. Condolences may be left for the family online at lincolnfh.com.
